Spectrum Coatings has been a custom formulator of a wide variety of speciality coatings and primer systems since 1972. Before that time our company existed under the name of Williams Lacquer Co. from its inception in 1926. Spectrum has evolved from its original business, providing lacquer and enamel coatings to the jewelry and woodworking industries, to now manufacturing the most up to date coating systems for a diverse customer base that includes the military as well as the aerospace industry.

We are capable of not only supplying top quality materials to our customers but to also provide technical backup as well as technical development to potential customers and projects.

We are proud of our accomplishments in helping develop speciality coatings for high profile projects/programs such as B-2 Stealth Bomber, AGM-109 Tomahawk Cruise Missile, IBM Computer Cases F-10: Fighting Falcon Aircraft, EG & G Rotron Blower Systems, Waterborne Military Camouflage Coating, Avian High Visibility Project & Low TR Reflectance Black.

Over the past decade Spectrum has developed a full line of environmentally friendly coating systems. These coatings not only meet the same physical and application standards of traditional coating systems, but also comply with federal, state and local air quality regulations including Southern California Air Quality Management Standards. These coatings include High Solids as well as Water Base, Bake Enamels, Urethanes, Acrylic Lacquers, Epoxies, and Primers.  Our modern testing laboratory is not only used for research and development but to maintain the strict quality controls that many of our government subcontractors demand. The testing equipment in our laboratory allows us to test/monitor gloss, viscosity and color of every batch of material that is manufactured at our facility as well as test for Cross Hatch Adhesion, Mandrel Bend and Dry Film Thickness of the sprayed coatings. Our facility lives to Military Quality Control Standard MIL-I-45208. Our facility has had an on-site approval from these major government subcontractors: Northrop Corporation, McDonnell Douglas, Raytheon Company, General Dynamics-Convair and Allied Signal.
